With the participation of prominent authorities, SeguridadExpo 2024, the most important event of the sector in Chile, kicked off. This edition brings together more than 120 brands in an exhibition that offers a wide range of technological solutions and innovative products to improve both public and private security. The event’s congress will feature more than 20 recognized industry experts, who will analyze the main security challenges at national and international level.

The inauguration was led by various authorities, including the presence of senators Ximena Rincón and Kenneth Pugh, as well as important representatives of the Armed Forces and Public Order, such as Vice Admiral Claudio Maldonado of the Chilean Navy; the national director of Gendarmería de Chile, Sebastián Urra Palma; the director general of the PDI, Eduardo Cerna; and the Inspector General of the Carabineros, Rodrigo Espinoza, among other industry leaders.

“We are sure that the learning, knowledge and experiences we obtain during the development of the exhibition will allow us to live in a much safer society in the future. Technology has a fundamental role in this space,” said Rodrigo Lobo, general manager (a) of Fisa, part of the GL events Group, organizers of the exhibition, in his inaugural speech.

“In these 8 versions of Seguridadexpo, we have gathered 1,800 suppliers of the security sector and more than 50,000 professionals, which has also been reflected in the growth of the security industry, which generates imports of technologies and products for more than 900 million dollars a year”, added Lobo.
The director of the Territorial Security Observatory of the Association of Chilean Municipalities (Amuch), Esteban Díaz Urbina, and the Inspector General of the Carabineros, Rodrigo Espinoza, also spoke at the event.

The exhibition stands out for its technological offerings, highlighting the fog cameras, capable of covering an entire space in seconds, blocking visibility and deterring possible crimes. There is also the Robot Spot, designed to inspect dangerous environments, thus protecting human life. Attendees will also be able to observe technologically advanced armored cars, non-lethal weapons, a modular tactical training range, and a virtual shooting range that allows for safe and efficient training.
The congress, entitled “Security in the 21st century: How do we address the challenge today?”, will begin this Thursday at 10:00 hrs. with Panel 1: “Crossing borders: Experiences in border control and management”, followed by the presentation “Safer seas: The role of DIRECTEMAR in public security”. Continuing with Panel 2: “Following the money: Tracking the finances of organized crime globally”, and closing with the exhibition “The continuing threat: A UK report on organized crime and its priorities in Latin America”.

Friday will be composed of 2 blocks of conversation, starting with Panel 3: “Intelligence in the Southern Macrozone: The State and Forestry Experience”, followed by Panel 4: “COGRID: Institutionalism in Disaster Risk Management”.
